Netflix has unveiled and started roll-out of its newly designed logo.
The once DVD-by-mail company has opted for what appears to be a flat and a more minimalist design. However, it does make some attempt to preserve the original design, i.e. the use of the colour red and a somewhat similar typeface presented in uppercase characters (capital letters).
Personally, if I was tackling this redesign, I would’ve gotten rid of the lower arch. On the upside, this redesign didn’t try to join so many other big name companies in going with lowercase letters “post-Apple Inc.’s current logo”.
This redesign lacks character. The “old” logo at least was reminiscent of an old movie marquee or an old Hollywood film title.
Not sure if it was such a good move on Netflix’s part, but on the other hand their customers might not even care.
I’m curious to hear what you think. Leave me a comment below.
