Marvel Studios and Columbia Pictures just released the second trailer (video below) to the highly-anticipated reboot of the Spider-Man franchise starring Tom Holland.
Led by the 20-year-old English actor, who made quite the impression on Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) fans after his scene-stealing performance in the massively successful Captain America: Civil War (2016).
This second trailer reveals a bit more about the movie’s storyline, like Peter’s persistence to join The Avengers. Here’s the premise of Spider-Man:Homecoming in a nutshell:
“A young Peter Parker/Spider-Man begins to navigate his newfound identity as the web-slinging superhero.”
Spider-Man: Homecoming stars (in addition to Holland), Michael Keaton (Adrian Toomes/The Vulture), Zendaya (Michelle), Donald Glover, Jacob Batalon (Ned Leeds), Laura Harrier (Liz Allen), Marisa Tomei (May Parker), and Robert Downey Jr. (Tony Stark/Iron Man). Spider-Man: Homecoming was directed by Jon Watts.
Spider-Man: Homecoming, could end up out-performing the previous franchises over the course of the three Spider-Man solo movies that Holland’s set to star in as the Web Slinger. Also, the new franchise’s younger cast is guaranteed to appeal to a younger audience coupled with MCU’s existing fan base and you’ve got box office sales potentially exceeding $500 million per film.
The previous five Spider-Man movies (2002 – 2014) that starred actors Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield earned roughly $4 billion at the global box office.
Spider-Man “swings” into theatres this Summer (July 7th, 2017).
